FREEDOM From Porn For WomenSample
FREEDOM from shame and guilt
Shame forces us to keep our sin and addictions secret. There are many paths to shame, but they all result in the same bondage. Usually we will keep our shame to ourselves because of the fear of how others will react to our sins or secrets. This is normal but unhealthy.
For women, shame is this web of unobtainable, conflicting, competing expectations about who we're supposed to be. When we keep our addiction to ourselves, we will never find freedom, accountability, or the encouragement of other women who also struggle with similar things.
I feel safe in saying that I know you have felt shameful about your addiction. I feel safe saying it because I have felt the same shame. This may have even caused you to wonder if Jesus loves you.
In John 4, we are introduced to the Samaritan woman. Fun fact, this conversation is Jesus’ longest conversation recorded in the Bible, and it happens to be with a woman who is isolated from her community. This woman was living in shame and feeling unwanted.
She is gathering water at the well when others will not be around, so that she can hide her embarrassment. Jesus surprises her and looks directly into her eyes showing her love and respect. Imagine the life change. The heart change. The transformation. In the Hebrew culture, men did not show this kind of love and respect to a Samaritan woman, yet Jesus speaks to the deepest need in her heart. Jesus offers her water that will quench her deepest thirst. When the Samaritan woman experienced the life changing love of Jesus, she found freedom from the shame.
Jesus is waiting for you too. You can meet Him and remove the shame. It means trusting God’s truth and not your feelings. If we confess our sins, we are forgiven and cleansed free from our shame. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. Rest in the truth of God, even if you don’t feel like it, and let go of your shame.
Father God, help me walk in the truth of your Word. Help me rest in your holy promises and not the deception of my feelings. Amen.
About this Plan
This inspiring reading plan is for women that struggle with pornography and seek FREEDOM. God has created each of us with a desire for intimacy. We often seek to satisfy those feelings with fantasy and pornography that leave us feeling guilty, empty, worthless, and trapped in a vicious cycle. This cycle of sin robs us of the joy and freedom we were designed to live in.
