Incinerate Insecurity

DAY 3 OF 6

Security and Service

You may be familiar with the story of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. Amazingly, the night He was going to be arrested, Jesus took time to do this menial task for His friends and use it as a teaching moment to show they were called to serve others. It’s amazing that in the midst of what was a very stressful and emotional time for Jesus, He was still focused on others and on His mission from God.

Today’s guiding verse gives us a clue into how this was possible. Note that Scripture says Jesus knew God had given all things into His hands and He knew God's call and God's destiny for Him. Because Jesus knew His mission and was secure in His identity, He took the focus off Himself—even during the most difficult night of His life.

You will probably not be called to die for your faith or to wash the feet of a dozen people, but metaphorically you are called to serve others and share Jesus’ love with them. Ephesians 2:10 says that "We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." God has created you to serve, and when you are secure in Him you walk in the works He has called you to!

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to you?

● What does it mean to you?

● What action step do you need to take?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.

About this Plan

Incinerate Insecurity

Have you recently felt “less than?” The truth is you’re a beloved child of God with an identity rooted in Him and a role to play in His kingdom—but insecurity and comparison hinder us from believing the truth. If you’re eager to incinerate insecurity and find freedom from comparison through God’s Word, join me on this plan. Together, we’ll discover and embrace the identity Jesus has given us!
