Unlimited Salvation

DAY 2 OF 14

“God Already Loves You”

Mary Donaldson’s story—the girl from Tasmania, Australia— is a modern fairy tale. She met Frederick, Crown Prince of Denmark in a pub in Sydney during the Olympics, and they were married four years later. It’s literally the stuff of movie scripts! She lived the fairy tale.

Most people don’t believe in fairy tales, and they don’t believe that good things can happen to them. If they believe in God at all, then they just pray and hope for the best, believing that what they ask for is unlikely.

Most people also believe that you only get what you work hard for. That’s why they think that the message of Christianity is that if they’re good enough, then perhaps God will love them. But that’s not good news, that’s terrible news!

The central message of Christianity is that God already loves you, and that because of what Jesus has done, you are accepted into a perfect relationship with him. Jesus took our sin, and he gives you his perfect life.

It’s like a poor girl who only has debts, and she marries a prince. He gets her debts, and she shares the kingdom! That’s what the gospel is all about, and it’s true for everyone who trusts in Jesus.

Why is it often so difficult for us to believe that God already loves us? Think about how you see yourself, and your weaknesses, and your relationships. Think about how God views the same things: hasn’t he already dealt with them?? – Eliezer Gonzalez
