Release: 10 Days to Embrace God's Plan for Your LifeSample
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. PROVERBS 16:9 ESV
One of the most frustrating things at times is trying to force something to happen in our lives that is not a part of God’s purpose for us. Have you ever had a dream that didn’t come true? Maybe you wanted to be a professional singer, but your vocal cords just didn’t cooperate. Or maybe you wanted to be a broadcast journalist giving the evening news, but you ended up living in a rural area with no tv station in miles. Whatever your plan may have been, it just didn’t happen that way. Have you ever thought that maybe that dream was not meant to be a part of your journey?
And then there are times when you focus on your gifts, stop trying to force things to happen, and you will start to see God’s purpose. Did it feel good to let the idea of singing go? Not at first, but once you embraced the things God gave you, you realized that your journey was just as beautiful and impactful. When you surrender your will and embrace who He created you to be, you saw yourself from His perspective and no longer desired other gifts.
Is it time to think about the areas of your life that you have planned? It’s not easy to lay down your plans for God’s steps. He often gives us the next step, not the whole plan. But His steps are certain and will never fail us. His steps take our gifts into account. His steps bring us into alignment with His great plan for our lives. His steps help build our character and integrity and uproot any motives that are not pure within our hearts. He loves us enough not to overwhelm us with the larger plan but graces us with the direction on what to do next. His joy is contagious when we allow ourselves the opportunity to commune with Him every day, never taking for granted that He is speaking to us and through us.
Prayer:
Father, I release my plans to You, and I embrace Your steps for me. Show me the next step to take. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
