God’s people, the Israelites, had been in Egypt for over 400 years and in that time they had so many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that the new Egyptian king got worried they would try to take over his nation. So, he ordered, “All the Israelites will now be our slaves and as soon as a Hebrew boy is born, throw him into the Nile River! But you can let the girls live.” Moses was born at this time. His parents tried to protect him, so they hid him for as long as they could. Read today’s verses to find out what happened.
The plans that Pharoah had for Moses were that his life would end right then, but God had a different plan. God had a purpose for Moses and protected him so that one day He could use Moses to rescue the Israelites and bring them toward the promised land.
