Righteous in His Generation
God described Noah as "righteous in his generation." Genesis 6:9 expands on why he was considered righteous among his contemporaries: "Noah walked [lived in habitual fellowship] with God." The word righteous in the original language is also translated as "perfect, complete, whole, entire, wholesome, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity; what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact."
What a great reward it is to walk with God! The word with can also mean "from, in(-to), (out) of." The only thing it takes to be whole, complete, and perfect is a relationship with God—a daily, moment-by-moment life led from the intimacy of knowing God. He wants to walk with us and transform us into catalysts of change and re-writers of history with Him!
Question: What do you think motivated Noah to live differently than the rest of his generation? What motivates you to do the same?
Prayer: Jesus, help me to walk with you moment-by-moment—to get to know you and what is important in light of eternity. Please remind me that only in you am I complete and whole. Help me believe you even when my circumstances dictate something I don't understand. Noah trusted you because he knew you. I want to know you and trust you wholeheartedly. In you, I live and move and have my being. Come near me, and let me be someone who walks with you! Amen.
