Who Am I Really? A Journey to Discover Your True IdentitySample
According to the King, you are PRICELESS.
- I am precious and honored in the Lord’s sight and He loves me. ~Isaiah 43:4
- God paid a great price to ransom me from an empty way of life. ~1 Peter 1:18
My husband and I love to watch Antique Roadshow—a television program where guests are invited to bring their antiques to have them appraised by experts who determine their value. The show is interesting because you never know what treasures will be discovered during each episode.
Sometimes a guest has no idea what their item is—let alone its worth. It’s intriguing to watch a person's reaction once they realize the value of their possession. Some items are highly valued not because of what they are or what they can do, but because they were created by a specific designer.
During one episode in particular, an odd-looking vase was brought in for evaluation. The expert began sharing information about the item like when it was made and what it was intended for. At the end of his assessment, the appraiser revealed the identity of the one who designed the vase—Tiffany. That little piece of information helped to explain what came next—the vase’s value. I was shocked when I discovered the urn was worth tens of thousands of dollars!
You and I are highly valued indeed, but our worth does not come from how we look or what we can do. Our value comes from the One who made us.
Like hidden treasure brought to the Antique Roadshow, once we realize that our great worth comes from our Designer, we will have a better appreciation of our true value in this world.
Make it Personal:
- What is your most prized possession and why?
- How would you respond if you caught a thief stealing or destroying your prized possession?
- In what ways has the enemy deceived you into believing you have little or no value in this world, and through whom has the enemy whispered those lies?
Action Step:
Whenever you see your reflection today, speak these words of truth… I am God’s treasured possession and I have been bought at a very high price.
Prayer:
Thank you, Jesus, for going to the cross so that my sins could be forgiven, and I would have the opportunity to spend eternity with you. May I never again take for granted the great price you have paid to redeem me back from the clutches of the enemy. May my life be lived in such a way that it brings glory and honor to you. Amen.
