Just Don't Give Up! - Part 7: The Higher PurposeSample
Journey of Faith
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. – Genesis 12:1
I imagined that Abram was enjoying a happy and contented life when God called him to carry out His bigger plans, which came at a high price: Abram had to leave everything behind and completely walk by faith. Abram had two choices: to stay or to go.
When Abram decided to go, he might have expected a smooth-sailing journey, but it turned out to be the opposite. He might have wanted to give up on the waiting, but he persistently kept his faith in God. He made mistakes in between, but they did not cancel God’s promise in his life.
After nearly 25 years, God renamed him 'Abraham' as a recognition of his reward. Abraham became one of the greatest men of faith ever to have lived. A blessed man. A man of impact.
We live in a broken world. Trials are inevitable. There will be times when we are pulled from our comfort place for a journey into the wilderness. But do not be discouraged. We have a perfect Father who keeps His promises. He will never leave us nor forsake us. The land we are going to will be full of bigger things that God has prepared for us.
I have journeyed into different unknown lands. Lands I’d never imagined would be entering my life, including battling cancer. Each time my faith was tested, it was refined. I did not like it and would never like it. It was uncomfortable. It was tough, painful, and scary. But if God allowed it, I must believe that He has bigger plans than mine. I do not see it now, but I have learned to continually lean on His promises.
I know God has planned for bigger things ahead. Through my journey of faith, His name will be glorified. People will hear my testimony. He has prepared things that I’ve never seen, heard, or thought would be possible.
My friend, is God bringing you into an unknown place right now? If yes, God has bigger plans for you. Like Abraham, you may face struggles in your family, job, finance, or health at present time, but God will turn all into an abundance of divine blessings. Like Abraham, you may need to wait until His promises are fulfilled, but God will continue to hold your hand and carry you when you are tired in the journey. His promises are being fulfilled in your life.
His promises will be fulfilled in the unknown land.
