Just Don't Give Up! - Part 1: I AmSample
God Knitted Me
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” – Psalm 139:13
I could not sleep that night. I was alone in the hospital, surrounded by other patients struggling with various medical conditions. I could hear the nurses’ footsteps and the beeps of the hospital equipment. Faint voices of diagnosis, “I believe the abdominal area is clear…” filled the air. I squirmed inside, trying to calm myself down while waiting for my second CT scan result.
“But the big tumor is there, and it is possibly cancer… Is it attached to my internal organ: lung or heart?” My mind burned with various what-ifs. My heart filled with worry about possibly facing a life-threatening condition. The abnormality of cells growing inside my body would require complex and intensive medication treatment.
Still, I was amazed at how Psalm 139 describes the way God formed us. God created every cell and knitted them together (Psalm 139:13). He formed us from the smallest unit (or the inmost being) and put all these cells together to form our physical body. How marvelous that is! This truth strengthened me.
Since that night, I have decided to trust in my Creator, who recognizes every cell in my body and can restore any broken cells into new ones. I decided to trust God, who saw my unformed body and ordained all my days before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16). As the author, I know God has written my current condition in one of His chapters. I believe there are many unfinished chapters in the book, and I let God finish the story.
If you are diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening conditions, or maybe your life story does not seem to be as bright as others, do not be discouraged! Ponder who your Creator is. God is the author of your life, and you are the main character in the story. Know that God has carefully penned your story with love. Similar to an author who writes every book with a purpose, God has a purpose for you and me.
My friend, let’s not compare our lives with others. Each of us has a unique story and is equally perfect. Designed by His everlasting love for us, together with His promises, we can rest in knowing that a happy ending is already ours.
God is the author of my life
