You And Me Forever: Marriage In Light Of EternitySample
"Rewards"
God gives us a vision of the end and calls us to shape our present in light of that future.
We need to know the promises that God makes to us. But we also need to believe them. God even says that it’s impossible to please Him without faith (Heb. 11:6). Knowing that God promises these things is not enough. We must believe them so fully and act on them so aggressively that our lives would be seen as tragedies if they proved to be false promises.
Has your marriage been shaped by God’s promises regarding the future? How would you know if it has? Consider what your marriage would look like if you gave no thought to God’s promises compared to what it would look like if you fully believed these promises. Imagine that there is no God, no mission, and no eternal rewards. What would an ideal marriage look like in that context? What would your goals be? What would you want to get out of this type of marriage?
Now take a minute to focus yourself on God and all that He is and offers and promises. What would an ideal marriage look like in this context? What would your goals be? What would you want to get out of this type of marriage?
Discuss with your spouse: Based on the way your marriage looks right now, would you say your marriage is based more on the reality and promises of God, or the opposite?

About this Plan
In this 30-day reading plan, Francis and Lisa Chan set aside typical approaches to talking about marriage and dive into Scripture to understand what it means to have a relationship that satisfies the deepest parts of our souls. In the same way that Crazy Love changed the way we view our personal relationships with God, You and Me Forever will shift the way we view our marriage relationships.
