40 Days of Spiritual Reboot

DAY 3 OF 40

Prep - For today you will need your bible, notepad, pen and access to some audio worship on your phone or iPad.

CENTER DOWN

Having found your comfortable position and practiced a few moments of quiet rest in God’s presence begin by recognising you have - in a spiritual dimension - entered into the most Holy Place… the very presence of God. Ask God to lead you into His throne room and claim your right to be there because of your saviour Jesus.

Spend a few moments in reflection on how yesterdays time with God was a blessing and how you want more from God today. Tell God, ‘Lord I want more from you. I expect more from you’. ‘I want you’.

WORSHIP MUSIC

Use your phone or music device to play a worship song. Don’t get distracted with the number of songs and start surfing through too many.

Search ‘Hymns’ or ‘Worship’ and very quickly decide a song. If you have a favourite worship set list, go there and listen to ONE or at the most TWO songs.

HOW YOU LISTEN MATTERS.

Put yourself in a posture of worship. Kneeling, bowing, standing etc. Listen to the song with your eyes closed and just listen to the artists voice and words carefully. Don’t sing along. But make that your worship… truly… every word.

Use your sanctified imagination to find yourself alone with God himself and present this song to God as your very own. Develop the understanding that this is the pinnacle of your life… in that THIS is your life… YOU!!! living for an audience of one.

OPEN YOUR BIBLE

Open your bible to Psalm 46. You will read it twice.

First time - Read it straight through. Don’t stop. Don’t think too much.

Second time - Slowly breathe every verse in.

Read verse one - ‘God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble…’ STOP… Really? Is this true? Ask God… ‘Do you mean this?’. Recollect the times he has seemly failed you or been distant or not showed up. If you are disappointed with God… tell him… scream it, shout it, cry it… He can handle you. You’re his child. Wrestle through the truth of this verse and embrace it afresh. then pray the next verse…

vs.2 - ‘Therefore we will not fear…’.

The Psalmist gives contrasts. ‘even though the earth be removed’ etc. Slowly read and think through what are the parallels.

What are the circumstances in your own life that parallel these examples the Psalmist has raised that you will still trust God despite it all?

I think you get the hang of it now… Work through the passage verse by verse. If you’re getting irritated at this point and feeling anxious or rushed about time… just close your bible and carry on with your life. You’re not ready to hear from God. But if you’re committed to this then calm down. Life will be exactly where you left it. Don’t worry!

When you get to verse 10… practice the first two words. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally… BE STILL - with the knowledge that I am God.

This is God speaking. Not the psalmist.

COME CLEAN

Work through the reasons and situations in your life that you have been running from, worried about, anxious about or chasing up.

Identify with the Spirits help… the Storm that keeps you from the Still.
