40 Days of Spiritual Reboot

DAY 18 OF 40

As yesterday was fairly intense, let's go easy today and cover one simple way of meditating. You've heard of 'word of the day' practice. Some times dictionary apps or programs give you one new word to memorise and practice in sentences each day.

KEY WORD MEDITATION

As you go through a passage of scripture whether it is from your reading or study or memorisation... You might come across one powerful word that seems to anchor the meaning and weight of the text (the passage). Underline or highlight this word and make it your word for the day. So the basic difference here is.. Instead of choosing a passage or phrase to meditate on, you choose a strong word.

Visualise that word and picture it in your minds eye through the day. Write it down some place in capitals.

Let's look at a couple of examples.

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Word - WEIGHT

Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another...

Word - DWELL

Apply all that you learned on interpretation and application and think on the depth and gravity of that one word. Let it become synonymous with this verse. Let it conjure images of the verse that facilitates faith and obedience in your soul.

OPEN YOUR BIBLE

Start looking for and chose a Bible reading plan on the net or the Bible app. Begin a diet of substantial intake of God's word on a daily basis. You might break it up through the day or morning and evening. But do it. Don't give in so easily.

COME CLEAN

Ask God to search your mind and measure how much your mind is given to thinking about things that don't please God. This means that it doesn't pass the quality test of a mind led by the Spirit. You'll find the quality test stated in Philippians 4:8. Confess this to God and offer your mind as God's workspace.
