Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten MeditationSample
The quality, not the quantity of our faith matters as evidenced in this incident where a young boy who was demon-possessed was set free by Jesus. Jesus rebukes his disciples for their lack of faith which was responsible for leaving the boy bound and shackled by the enemy. It’s embarrassing to hear Jesus tell us that all we need is mustard seed size faith for Him to do great things because it’s obvious that we have often lacked faith of even that size. He doesn’t stop there, he directs our hearts and minds toward the stupendous power of an unbridled faith. He says we can relocate a mountain, something impossible in the natural realm on an ordinary day. What he means is that nothing will be impossible for us who believe! Nothing? If Jesus said nothing - it’s the truth. Our faith doesn’t have to be the size of a mountain. We need bite-sized faith packed with an unbeatable trust in God and his ability to do what only He can do. Faith mixed with doubt is no faith at all.
So what are we waiting for? Let’s begin believing God, taking Him at His word and shaking the world up for Him.
