Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten MeditationSample
A Roman centurion had immense authority by human standards. He had servants and a group of soldiers who he commandeered. This centurion was obviously a select one, for he showed compassion for the needs of one of his servants. It wasn’t for a family member that he approached Jesus but for an employee. Furthermore, he seemed to understand the power and authority that Jesus possessed over the natural and supernatural realm that he implores him to just “speak a word” believing that the word He speaks would heal his servant. His faith is admired by Jesus himself and to top it all he was a gentile not a Jew. He may have been one of the first gentiles who believed in Jesus and took Him at His word.
We oftentimes forget just how powerful the name of Jesus is. We forget the authority that he possesses over the seen and unseen realms. We live fearful and without an understanding of just how powerful and mighty He is. We often give the devil more credit and air time than we do for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It may be time to change that!
Questions to ask yourself
Have I been fixating on the enemy’s involvement in my life rather than focusing on God’s plans for me?
How can I live more confidently by being aware of the authority that Jesus has, over everything in the seen and unseen world?
