One Shot

Sometimes life is just a lot, isn’t it?  You can feel the weight of the world on your shoulders.  Maybe something has happened to you, maybe to someone you love, or maybe, in all honesty, you’re just not motivated to do anything.  The Lord allows both good and bad situations in our lives to help us grow, to teach us and to make us stronger people.  With all that said, He still wants to use us for His glory, and when you’re in that sweet spot, there is no better way to live.

Today, we go back to Paul and read from the 5th chapter in his letter to the church in Ephesus.  The message to start the chapter, as with a good portion of Paul’s letters, outline rules to live by.  Things God has shown him and that he has learned in his journey that not only build you to be a better Christian, but can apply to everyone and make you a better person.

The Message has an excellent translation of the 11th verse and it says, “Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork…” God didn’t build us in His image to just sit around and punch the Christian clock till we die and then go to heaven; He has called us to change the world for Him, to bring the gospel to all corners of the Earth, to make His name known.  There is no more motivating and inspiring feeling than doing exactly what God has called you to do and spreading that passion to everyone you know.
