Planting and Tending Your Garden
SEED OF TRUTH
Read Ephesians 6:13-17. The Lord will most likely allow circumstances in your life that will test you. Will you have faith or will you be afraid? Is there anything in your life that is putting your faith to the test? What do you fear? Where are you being challenged to put your trust in the Lord? Tell the Lord these things and then put on the full armor of God. Apply every piece of armor to fight this battle. Refer to yesterday's devotion if necessary.
PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today's focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day. Ephesians 6:14 "Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness." (NAS)
WATER THE SEED
This passage in Ephesians tells us to gird our loins with truth. God has given us His word as our shield. The truth has been given to help protect us from lies. We are bombarded by untruths in our culture - on the news, in movies, and on TV. As you go through your day today, be attentive to the thoughts that cross your mind. Be aware of the things you hear on the radio or read in the paper. You have been given supernatural armor, so put it on! Gird your loins with the truth of God's word before you leave your quiet time. Put on your armor and be ready.
BEAR THE FRUIT
Stand firm.
CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.

About this Plan
The Bible uses seasons to illustrate God's work in us. This 40-day devotional uses the metaphor of a garden for growing in Christ. You will be given seeds of truth (Scripture), instructions for planting (taking it to heart), and watering (application) that seed. The Lord will grow a beautiful garden of His character in your heart, overflowing with the fullness of the Lord.
