DAY 27 OF 40

Planting and Tending Your Garden

SEED OF TRUTH

Read Ephesians 5:6-10.

What is Paul instructing you to do? You were once darkness, dead in sin, a child of wrath, an enemy of God, disobedient, unholy - the list goes on. But now you are light; you are in Christ and He is in you. Paul is telling us to live as though Jesus Himself lives in you.

PLANT THE SEED

Quietly recite today's focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day.

Ephesians 5:8,10

"Walk as children of light and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord."

WATER THE SEED

The Holy Spirit is in you and with you. It's hard to believe this and to remember it, but Galatians 2:20 is very true, you have been crucified with Christ and Christ, the light, now lives within you. We are to walk IN the light, as children of light, growing more each day and becoming more like Him.

Consider what it means to be the light. Ask the Lord to help you be truth and light in your home or office today. Imagine what that would look like. How can you shine brighter? How can you be less? We can't do this on our own. Paul tells us to find out what pleases the Lord. Paul is trying to help us. If we listen carefully and are intentional, we will take what we are being taught to heart and seek to bring it to life in our daily lives by God's grace. As we do this, we will be walking as children of light.

BEAR THE FRUIT

Walk as children of light.

CLOSE IN PRAYER

Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.

About this Plan

Seeds of Spring

The Bible uses seasons to illustrate God's work in us. This 40-day devotional uses the metaphor of a garden for growing in Christ. You will be given seeds of truth (Scripture), instructions for planting (taking it to heart), and watering (application) that seed. The Lord will grow a beautiful garden of His character in your heart, overflowing with the fullness of the Lord.
