Planting and Tending Your Garden
SEED OF TRUTH
Read Ephesians 4:15-16.
How does Paul say we are to grow and why?
PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today's focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day. Ephesians 4:15 "Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ."
WATER THE SEED
As we put God's word into practice, we will grow into maturity. We will no longer be tossed to and fro by the waves or carried around by the gust of wind. Our footsteps will become more and more steady, no matter what the weather. We will have gained our footing by daily putting His truth into practice. When we plant the seed and water it, God will cause it to grow, and we will begin to bear righteous fruit. Practice this today. Make it a practice to speak in love to each and every person the Lord brings into your path. A time will come when you will be tested. Will you be ready and not shy away from speaking the truth? We must help each other grow. But it must be done in love! Love others the way you would want to be loved. Pray that the Lord will give you a special opportunity to be Christ, either to your husband, your children, or to the clerk at the supermarket (Matthew 22:39, Ephesians 5:1-2).
BEAR THE FRUIT
Speaking the truth in love.
CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.

About this Plan
The Bible uses seasons to illustrate God's work in us. This 40-day devotional uses the metaphor of a garden for growing in Christ. You will be given seeds of truth (Scripture), instructions for planting (taking it to heart), and watering (application) that seed. The Lord will grow a beautiful garden of His character in your heart, overflowing with the fullness of the Lord.
