IT’S A NEW DAY!
I never wore jewelry of any kind growing up. So the first time I had anything remotely jewelry-like was when I got married, and, of course, as tradition and honoring my wife-to-be would have it, getting a ring was part of the deal. We went and picked out rings, and with me knowing nothing about the process of sizing, the jeweler gave me this thing to stick my finger into with lots of holes in it. The idea was to figure out which size was correct for my ring finger. Well, our opinions differed greatly. The size that he strongly recommended felt to me like my finger was going to be squeezed off. He finally acquiesced to what size I thought would work. Fast forward to our honeymoon. Every time I would wave to someone or move my arm in a particularly fast motion, my ring would go flying across the room. I can’t believe that I didn’t lose the thing with all the swimming and outdoor activities we did as newlyweds those first few weeks. When we finally came home, I went back to the jeweler to ask him to make it smaller, well, actually, the right size for my finger!
It was humbling, but except for the times we go rock climbing, my ring has been firmly on my finger without the slightest hint of coming off when I wave to my friends! Here’s my point: Sometimes things might seem constricting if you’re not used to it or if you look at it from a closed perspective. God knows us and has a plan for us, and He’s the expert. So take His advice and you will be firmly fitted for understanding the journey He has you on.
ASK: Invite God to join you in this time.

WRITE: Jot down some thoughts on what you think it means for you to be a “new creation.” What are some things you would like to get rid of in your life? What are some things you’d like to do better?
MEDITATE: Spend time talking with God about the questions above. What old is gone? What new has come? What do you want your relationships with God to be like?
