Preparing for Marketplace RevivalSample
Preparing For Marketplace Revival: Part V
In this series, we’re discussing the stages of true repentance. After acknowledging your sin, experiencing true remorse, and putting a stop to your sin there is a final step – commit to obeying God.
In Nehemiah 10, out of Israel’s brokenness and remorse Israel decided to stop sinning, but they needed clarity and commitment to what that would mean. Israel decided to commit to obeying God.
Nehemiah 9:38 says, “In view of all this, we are making a binding agreement, putting it in writing, and our leaders, our Levites and our priests are affixing their seals to it.”
The people signed the covenant proclaiming how they were going to obey God’s commands. Their repentance led to a revival. If we desire revival to come, we first need to begin with repentance.
Questions for Reflection
- Have you ever committed to something and then followed through with it? How did you manage to follow through? What behaviors did you adopt to stay committed? What obstacles did you have to overcome? How might you transfer the mindset you developed to your business and life?
- Where would you like to see a revival in your life now? What is it about this aspect of your life that makes it in need of revival? Is it, perhaps, tied to a specific sin? What part do you play in the problem? What could you do differently to help start a revival? How might you encourage others to join in?
- Revivals are strewn throughout the Bible. One major one is found in Acts 2: 42-47. Read it to see the incredible results of a true awakening.
