The Complicated Gray: Perhaps, He Walked It First

DAY 3 OF 3

Jesus entered this world as our fellow human, yet a perfect version who still experienced most all of the emotions we each feel on a daily basis. In scripture we see Jesus love, long, anger, and grieve. He felt human emotion and His life, although purposeful and clear, was difficult and complicated.

Because emotions are not as black and white as many of us have been taught, especially if you walk this life with faith. Sadness probably always has some joy or gratitude within it. Joy probably always has some fear. And fear probably always has some trust. The movie Inside Out actually got this pretty on point at the end.

I think, no I know, this is what it is to be walking our earthly life with faith; never black and white, simple, or clear cut. Rather the holding of both truths in one.

Perhaps God gave us the complexity of our human emotions, including embracing the complicated gray, to remind us of our reliance on Him. That we must rely on His grace, mercy, and love to get through this beautiful and, at times, brutal life.

Perhaps one of the reasons He sent us His one and only son was not only as our Savior. Perhaps he also sent Him as a true example of what it is to walk this life feeling, feeling all of it, all at the same time.

And still trusting and loving Him, embracing the complicated gray to awaken to life in color.

Because he walked it first.
