Perfectly Imperfect

DAY 1 OF 3

I’m Imperfect

I fall short of God’s glorious standards and stumble many times. I’m not a perfect person by any means. Though my goal is to become completely perfect in the way God desires us to be, I’m still thankful that God allows me to be perfectly imperfect. What I mean by that is that despite having dealt with addiction, despite being molested, despite the depression, despite the days I feel like I’ve disappointed God, he still views me as perfect. He never forsakes me or leaves my side. He continuously shows his love for me.

The message I’m trying to get across is that you don’t need to be the perfect person that people or yourself may think you need to be to serve a purpose or be perfect in God’s eyes.

We live in a world that is often judgemental of others. They judge you if you have tattoos; they judge you because of the color of your skin or just because of the way you dress. Nowadays, it’s so hard to be your authentic self because of the standards or opinions of others.

What if I told you about me? What if gave you a brief description of who I am? Would you still be willing to read this message? Would I be classified as not being perfect in the way God wants me to be?

I’m a young black man with tattoos on my arms. I have long hair; I struggled with addiction to alcohol and pornography. I’ve dealt with depression. I was molested as a child. I didn’t have the luxury of being raised in a household with my parents. I didn’t finish school to receive my bachelor’s degree while in college. There was even a time when I could care less about picking up a Bible, yet God still placed purpose in my life.

You see, I have plenty of things about me that aren’t perfect. I have weaknesses that wouldn’t classify me as a perfect person. Despite all of my flaws, God still loves me for being perfectly imperfect.

Reflection

List three things that you feel you are judged about.

List three things that you feel are weaknesses in your life.

Ask God in prayer how he can use those things that don’t seem perfect for a greater cause and purpose.

Day 2

About this Plan

Perfectly Imperfect

Every imperfection you have, every flaw you carry, and every trial you've been through doesn't take away from how God views you as perfect. Though we fall short of perfection in the eyes of the world, we will always be perfect in the eyes of God.
