Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 322 OF 366

Receive the Gift of Salvation

The Scripture makes a special mention of Jesus loving this rich young ruler, though he had dishonestly insisted that he had kept all of God’s commandments - including the very first commandment, Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:3 KJV), and the tenth commandment, “Thou shalt not covet” (Exodus 20:17 KJV). Jesus’ tough instruction of “sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor,” was not intended to hurt this young man. It was said from a heart of love and intended for the youth’s own good. This man’s money had become his god and an idol, which had to be dethroned in order for Jesus to become Lord in his life.
The one thing this young man lacked was faith in Jesus as his Savior. He trusted his own goodness, not the salvation that Jesus offered as a gift. Millions of people make the same mistake today, by trusting in themselves and their own abilities instead of God.
Jesus came to save sinners. Unless an individual acknowledges that he is a sinner, he cannot be saved. Because the whole world is guilty before God, He provided the only way of salvation for everyone. That way is Jesus Christ and His death on the cross, which has given us access to God’s abounding grace. Hence, though everyone might be guilty, they are also justified by this grace.
This does not ensure automatic salvation. We must first put our faith in what God has provided for us by grace. Although the price for the sins of the whole world has been paid, only those who receive it by faith will benefit from the salvation that Jesus offers.

Prayer
Thank You Lord, for we have received by faith what You have provided for us by grace, and that’s the reason we benefit from the salvation that You alone have to offer. Amen.

About this Plan

Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
