Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample

What Do You Reflect?
In the world today there is a constant battle between good and evil. Our heart is the battle ground for spiritual warfare, where the powers of the dark world constantly tempt us to do evil. It is our hearts, which are storehouses of thoughts, which are at stake and it’s up to us to make a choice to store either good thoughts or bad thoughts. For our hearts ultimately reveal our nature.
Therefore, it is written in Proverbs 4:23 (NIV), Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. In the battle, whenever evil thoughts try to penetrate into our hearts, we must resist them immediately, using the Word of God. The Bible further states, in Luke 6:45, that the good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.
It is extremely important for our thoughts be in alignment with the Word of God. When we read, meditate on and act upon the Word, our hearts are programmed to store up a treasure trove of good thoughts, such as goodness, righteousness and truth. If we are not in the habit of reading the Word, our growth can be stunted with the evil thoughts that creep into our hearts.
There may be times when we fall prey to the evil thoughts of bitterness, envy and malice. But, when we know of the destruction that they lead to, we must overcome them by sowing God’s Word, as seed in the soil of our hearts. When we do so, the seed is bound to give a life-changing harvest and reveal a life that reflects Christ, for the glory of the Father.
Prayer
Dear Father, I know that my heart is Your temple so help me always to choose to think according to Your written Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
