Faithfulness to God

I don’t know how Job did it. When we go through affliction, we have a tendency to blame it on other people or God. We have been believers in the Lord for many years and, I’m sure we have questioned God at some point in our lives. I have. Many times!
I have gone through a near Job-like experience, where I was losing everything and everyone around me; surrounded by broken and shattered dreams, sickness and even death. I came to the point of saying, ‘It’s better to curse God and die!’

But in spite of all this, God loves us. His love triumphs! When I was bitterly crying out to God, the sweet Holy Spirit, in utter gentleness, lifted me up and reminded me, If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there (Psalm 139:8). The words of David struck me! Where can I escape from God? Where can I run from the truth? The truth that set me free; for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

This has kept me and continues to keep me. I do not believe that God sends sickness our way. But when it does come, how do we react? Are we maintaining our integrity in the midst of all the pain? Many will come our way, including our own, telling us that our God does not deliver. But if we have decided to follow Jesus, there’s no turning back! Like marriage – in good times and bad, in sickness and health… till death do us part!

Declaration
Lord, no matter what happens in my life, I will always hold onto You. Even when its gets tough to the point of giving up, I will choose to hold onto You.
