Expecting the One With Many NamesSample
THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT A SON!
“Son of David” as a name for Jesus is very confusing, considering David lived 1000 years before the birth of Jesus. However, Jesus got this name because through prophecy, He was called the Seed from David. 2 Samuel 7:12-16
“A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David,” have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” Matthew 15:22
One of the most familiar names for Jesus is the ‘Son of God!’ To me, that knowledge is most beautiful. I think of a dad and his son today and how special that relationship should be because our God is the ultimate example of a father, and His only Son, Jesus, is the ultimate example of a son.
“The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So, the holy One to be born will be called the ‘Son of God.” Luke 1:35
LET US PAUSE:
When I think of Jesus, the very Son of God, the promised seed as the Son of David, and how He has made communication between man and God so easy, I stand in awe! Jesus is the One who was with God at creation! Jesus is part of the triune God! Pause for a moment and take that in! You and I have free access to this All-Powerful God through Jesus! In your own words, praise Him and tell Him how much you need Him, thank Him, and love Him!
