Parasha Minute: Genesis / BreisheetSample
"Adonai Remembered Sarah"
Sarah was privy to Adonai’s plans for Avraham (Abraham). So how was she going to help this along? Was she just going to trust? The pressure to fulfill her design and function as a woman weighed her down. She offered her handmaid, Hagar, who easily conceived a son, Yishma’el. But this was not her own seed to carry her legacy. Adonai himself said Avraham would have descendants as numerous as the stars. Even messengers confirmed that. But at her advanced age and with all this time passed, it could be that Adonai simply forgot her. Then Yitz’chak (Isaac) was born and Sarah laughed.
The impossible became the amazing. God remembered allowing time to pass and conditions to change. Despite our pleas and tears, God in his love and might will not give us partial promises. Reflection / Prayer: Adonai, thank You for loving us so much that You set plans to prosper us. We believe in the goodness of all Your promises in the fullness of time. You add no sorrow to it. Help our unbelief when we are tempted to trust what we see.
