Teach Your Children—Part 1 One of our primary responsibilities as parents is to teach our children the way of the Lord. Scripture tells us that this should be a constant and on-going process: “[You] shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (v. 7). Jesus said that the law hung on two commandments: love the Lord God and love your neighbor (Matt. 22:27–40). The words He quoted come immediately before the command given here to teach our children. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deut. 6:5). This is what we are to impart to our children above all else. What are we teaching our children? Are we living in such a way that our children will be drawn to the Lord? May our words and our actions bring honor to the Lord and life to our children as we lead them in His ways.
