Year of the Bible: Part Ten of TwelveSample
Confidence and Boldness in Dire Circumstances
We all read hero stories in the Bible and watch superhero movies, and we all love the character they display, the things they accomplish, and their perseverance in overcoming evil.
These heroes all have something in common. The hero usually finds his purpose/calling through some difficulty and then must find the courage and boldness to defeat evil. This truth is timeless: boldness is found when you face difficulty. You will discover God's power in your weakness, uncovering His call and purpose for your life.
Our culture is obsessed with fear-mongering and constantly teaches us to play the role of the victim. Pain and difficulty are real parts of life, but are you looking up beyond the pain? Will you look through it to find purpose and the endless source of hope? Will you rise beyond your grief and discomfort to find a future of victory in Jesus? Lift your eyes and see that salvation is from God! Find the hero Jesus is and the hero you are in Him!
Question: Paul challenged the church of Philippi not to be frightened by those who opposed them but to count opposition as a sign of their salvation. When you face hard times, do you remind yourself of your hope in Christ, or do you give way to fear?
Prayer: Ask God for the fortitude to stand firm, striving for the fruit of faith, which is strong confidence.
