I see what you do not see…
"While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV)
"When you're older, you'll understand!" How many times did you hear this phrase as a child? If you're a parent, how often have you said it to your children?
Let's consider this: why don't we allow toddlers to swim in the open ocean with older kids? Because toddlers can't swim yet! Why shouldn't children watch certain intense or brutal movies? Because they can't categorize the experiences yet and would get nightmares.
Children may see these restrictions and say, "It's not fair! You're ruining all my fun!" But parents put these restrictions in place because they love their children, have their best interests at heart, and want to protect them.
This explanation sounds very logical, doesn't it? But spiritually speaking, applying it to our lives may be very painful for us as God's children. Doubts and questions can rise up in our hearts: "Why haven't I been promoted yet? Why are other people always ahead of me? Why isn't God answering my prayers?"
These are all legitimate questions that can demoralize us. However, if we consciously choose to keep our eyes on what is still "unseen" and resolutely believe that God truly wants the best for us (see Jeremiah 29:11), He will reward our faith.
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see." (Hebrews 11:1, NLT)
So often, we say that God must have another plan when things don't go the way we expected. Do you truly believe that? Do you truly trust Him?
Perhaps you, too, feel that God is forbidding you from doing many things you'd like to do. If so, I'd like to remind you: God doesn't want to punish you or prevent you from enjoying life. He wants to protect you…He sees what you can’t see yet, and His heart is full of love for you!
You are a miracle!
