I'm So Blessed: A 3-Day Devotional With CainSample
What does it mean to be blessed? What comes to mind? Maybe it’s when you have the perfect family, or things are going well in business. Or let’s be honest, calling someone “blessed” is often the less tacky way to call them rich.
Well, I can tell you with absolute certainty that being BLE$$ED was not our reality when we sat down to write our song “I’m So Blessed.”
The year was 2020… we were sitting at home, reeling from 80 canceled shows, trying to make good use of our unplanned time off. I was pouting. I was bored. But God had dropped this phrase into our laps. We knew it was time to stop mourning and start declaring the truth, “even on our worst day, we are blessed.”
Let’s look at some of the blessings we find in scripture.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. - Numbers 6:24-26
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:8
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places… - Ephesians 1:3
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” - Jeremiah 17:7-8
The blessing of God is a promise that feeds our bodies, our mind, and our spirit. In tough times, in times of drought, when nothing is going well… God will give you what you need AND a peace that is greater than you can fathom.
What if everything was stripped away, and it was just you on your worst day of your life? We want you to know…you are blessed! You are a child of God. Scripture says that NOTHING will separate you from God’s love, those who trust in Jesus will spend eternity in Heaven, and God has promised to provide all your needs here on Earth. You are blessed because of your blessed assurance in Jesus, not because of your circumstances.
