Close friends are so needed throughout the up‑and‑down paths of life. Having someone to celebrate in our joys or embrace during times of sorrow adds depth and meaning to even the dullest of days, let alone the ones that bring us to our knees. While a husband’s friendship is so very special, it doesn’t replace the need for fellowship and special times just between women. After all, they have a language all their own that doesn’t need interpreting or explaining. And once a woman and her friend’s cup is filled, it’s as if life gets a new boost for facing another day.

Father, I pray for my wife to have strong friendships that bring joy to her heart. I pray for friends who will be a safe place for her to be herself and be accepted for just the beautiful way that she is. I also pray for friends who will pray with her and for her; women who will stretch her faith in You and challenge her to be all that they know she can be. Help her to be a good friend in return. I know it takes time to build close friendships, so give me the nudge to encourage her to take time away when You know she needs it. It’s hard not to be selfish—I want her all to myself! But I know it’s important for her to be filled with love from friends who care about her life and her dreams, her frustrations and her milestones. Most of all, help me to be her best friend ever—the one she wants to come home to and share from her heart. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN.
