I Can Do All Things “In You”: A 5-Day Devotional with Iveth Luna

DAY 4 OF 5

“I CAN DO ALL THINGS, IN YOU, IN YOU”

When we read Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” we often picture the biggest of mountains to conquer. I’m all for dreaming big and praying big, but let’s not forget about our daily battles. Can you love your neighbor like you love yourself? Can you passionately live out the calling in your life? Can you forgive someone who has hurt you? Can you seek to live a life of purity? These are some examples of those daily battles that we face. These are our lions, our giants.

I often think of when we have the opportunity to live out this verse. Our flesh can’t on its own but because Christ lives in us, we can. I remember driving to a meeting with a manager and a coworker to have a conversation I didn’t want to have but was necessary. We can all have that dreaded fear of confrontation. I had been hurt repeatedly by my coworker and it had lasted longer than it should have. As I was driving there, I felt so nervous, but I was praying for God to give me the strength to confront my coworker with love. Naturally, I had anger and resentment and I just wanted to break down. However, as I prayed, I asked that God would fill me with His strength where I was weak. More specifically, I asked Him to fill me with His Spirit so I could speak gracefully in truth rather than letting my emotions take over.

I knew I couldn’t do it without Him, and when I got out of my car, I thanked God in advance for already filling me with His Spirit because He is just that good. After that meeting, I was in awe at God’s hand over the situation, and because of this experience, I am even more convinced that His power was made perfect in my weakness.

Application:

We can draw strength from the power of God in our everyday battles. What is a battle that you want to trust God with? How can you put your faith into action today?

Write this verse down in your mirror, notebook, your hand, or somewhere where you can see it. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. See it, believe it, and Believe God to give you the strength you need for today.

Battle cry: Say it out loud to remind your heart and soul: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Prayer:

Dear God I thank you for seeing me and caring about the details of my life, the tiny battles, and the bigger ones. I thank you because you graciously fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can be all that I am called to be IN YOU. I pray that you would remind me that it is no longer I who live but You in me. Transform me to be more like you and remind me that I can always come to you. God, I give you the battles on my mind and heart today, give me the strength to do all the things You call me to do, IN YOU. Thank you, Father! Amen!

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.

Galatians 2:20 “ I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me”

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast even more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
