Stewarding Your ThoughtsSample
"May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14
How we speak to others matters.
How we speak to ourselves matters too. Maybe even more.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 15:18 that what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart.
A heart that despises something will not be a good steward of it.
A heart that chases conforming to the world’s standards will not build wellness the kingdom way.
Words have the power of life and death. God could have created the world in any way he wanted, but He chose to SPEAK it into existence. Words are powerful.
Ask yourself, how do you speak to yourself, does it honor God, your Creator? Are the messages you tell yourself something you would say to the 8 year old version of yourself? Or your own daughter if you have one?
If we want to be successful in stewarding our wellness for the kingdom ...
If we want to be successful in breaking free of the bondage of body image ...
If we want to be successful in overcoming generational patterns that plague us ...
We have to start with our words, not just to feel good about ourselves, because self promotion is not the goal here; but to be obedient to the Psalm. That the words of our mouths and what is held in our hearts is pleasing to our Lord.
Reflection
- On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst) how would you rate how you talk to yourself?
- How would you change that messaging if you were speaking it to your child self or own daughter?
- How do you think God wants you to speak about yourself, his child?

About this Plan
One of the biggest battles we face is in our minds. Our thoughts drive our feelings, which often dictate our behaviours and shape our lives. In this 5-day study, we will look at 5 different Scriptures and apply them to become better stewards of our thoughts and, in turn, walk more in God's will for our lives.
