The Glory of God in Heaven.Sample
Jesus’ Wounds Are Everlasting Proof.
By Rev. Kenley Mann
There are some things in heaven right now that are made by man. Do you know what they are? The wounds that were made in Christ’s body when soldiers nailed His feet and hands to the cross, and when one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear.
Jesus invited the disciples, and a week later Thomas, to look at His hands and feet and to touch Him. This was proof He was bodily raised from the dead.
There may be a debate as to whether Jesus still has those wounds in heaven.
1.“Was slain” means that it is not only that it happened but also gives continuous results. Those wounds established for the disciples on the first Easter showed that Jesus had been slaughtered as the Lamb in their place.
2.Those wounds on Christ’s person in heaven give a continuous result. The name Satan means “accuser.” Every time we sin, Satan lives up to his name and accuses us of having sinned. But Jesus is right there sitting at the right hand of God to give the perfect defense: “Look at these wounds. I have paid for those sins.” And we, sinners, are free.
While we sinners are here on Earth, those wounds will be everlasting proof of and connection to His love for us.
Prayer: O slain Lamb of God, here on Earth we praise you for the wounds you bear as proof in heaven that we are paid for. Keep us amazed at your love so we may join in marveling in heaven at those same wounds as everlasting marks of your love for us. Amen.
