Real Hope: The Promises of GodSample

His Love Endures
‘Love’ as society sees it can be fickle. It’s a feeling that comes and goes with attraction and is so desperately craved we can make poor choices in pursuit of it. Sometimes, it’s seasonal and only offered if certain conditions are met.
The love God offers us, though, is an enduring one.
There are many descriptions for the love of God throughout scripture, but Psalm 136 repeatedly emphasises this attribute as it celebrates the many wonders of God, and how we see Him in our lives and creation.
So, what does it meant to endure? Interestingly it doesn’t just mean that God’s love is everlasting, it also means it ‘suffers patiently’.
That’s a side of endurance we don’t always consider: endurance isn’t just about consistency, but patience through difficulty.
I imagine that difficulty could be in the moments where we reject God, or when we choose our own ways over His gentle leadings.
What’s so amazing about the love of God is that, even through rejection or disobedience, He still loves us.
Unlike the love of the world, God’s love isn’t based on a feeling, a mood or our behaviour. It’s based on His goodness which, like His love, endures forever.
