Mind Games

DAY 3 OF 3

What Do You Say About You?

Have you ever paused long enough to evaluate what you’re saying… about yourself?

You see friends, our thinking controls our speaking, and ultimately our lives. Early on in my relationship with Jesus, the men I was walking with would regularly catch me and call me out of unhealthy mind games—speaking negative, degrading things about myself. Trusted mentors and friends in my life would stop me and say, “No. Steve, that’s not what God says about you!”

Remember this—you’re always sending out messages about yourself. When we have a positive, biblical attitude, we learn to start sending out messages that align with God’s Word, “I’m capable, I’m accepted, I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I am creative. I am loved. I am valuable. I am gifted by God. I am more than a conqueror!” When we have God’s perspective of ourselves and have a positive view on life, we can overcome the challenges that keep so many people down.

I know we all have areas we need to improve, but as long as we’re pressing forward, getting up each day, and pursuing a relationship with Jesus, we can be assured God is pleased with us. As we recognize God is working on us and in us, despite our imperfections, we can learn to both receive and give God’s love. Philippians 2:13 (NLT) says: For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Gaining a healthier perspective on ourselves all starts with allowing God to work in our hearts and in our minds—He’s the Source.

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to me?

● What does it mean to me?

● How can I apply what God is teaching me?

● How can I be specific in prayer today?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer. If you have any prayer requests or testimonies you'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you—just visit SteveRobinson.com today to connect with our team, view full-length messages, or sign up for my weekly devotional email today!
