THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS GOD’S GIFT, PART ONE

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” Of all the gifts given to us by our loving heavenly Father, the fear of Him is among the most precious and can only be understood within the context of our heavenly family. God, our Father, loves us, His children, so much that His greatest desire is for us to be enveloped by His love and astounded by His power and might so that we will implicitly trust and obey Him in all things.

“Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” We can also pass this gift on to our children, and it is a wonderful family heritage. The fear of Abba is a quest, but it is a guided quest, and ideally, it is taught by parents to their children, or at least by spiritual parents to their spiritual children. As this wonderful spiritual heritage is handed down from generation to generation, it passes with it lifelong blessings.

“The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.” Pursuing purity in our lives must begin with the fear of the Lord, which itself is pure. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
