God's Word Changes Lives

DAY 5 OF 5

METHOD OF TRANSMISSION

Do you know that the world could have solved the COVID-19 pandemic had everyone agreed to stay home for three months? Do you know that if we all agree to have sex with only our spouse, the next generation won’t have to worry about sexually transmitted diseases?

That happens to a virus when we cut off its transmission link. The virus will go away once it can no longer transmit to the next group of people.

Unfortunately, the same goes for our faith in Jesus. The gospel will stop with us unless we intentionally pass it on to the next generation.

We know that this is not just a scare tactic to get you to disciple your kids. This had happened before and was written in the passage we just read together.

God had repeatedly commanded Israel to remember what he had done for them. He wants them to obey his commandments and teach them to their children. Because how else would they learn about their Lord God almighty? Kids must receive it from their parents.

This is God’s transmission plan. We hear God’s word and commandments, and then we learn to obey them in our lives. But it doesn’t stop there. It must not stop there. We must then pass it along to our children so they can pass it to their children after them.

But that did not happen in Israel. Sometimes in their history, a generation failed to obey God’s commandments, and they did not bother to pass his word to their children. One generation failed; as a result, multiple generations lived and died without knowing the God who loves them. That’s horrible!

So let’s not wait for a modern-day Josiah to rekindle our love for God’s word. Let us be the ones who introduce God’s wonderful word to our children. Spend five to ten minutes every morning reading the Bible to them. Go to church together as a family every Sunday. Obey God’s commandments and pass his word along to our children.

About this Plan

God's Word Changes Lives

Great things happen when God's people study the Bible. Why? Because God's word changes lives. In this reading plan, we will see how transformative God's word can be when we study, apply, and share it with others. Start this plan, and let God's word change your life!
