Philippians: A Life in ChristSample
There’s not been a huge amount to rejoice about lately. The global pandemic, wars, humanitarian crises. The list could go on. There might not be much to rejoice about, but what Paul tells us to rejoice in changes everything. Not a superficial happiness dependent on our circumstances, but a deep-rooted joy in the Lord.
Let's remind ourselves about this Lord in whom we are to rejoice:
He is the Christ (Philippians 1:1).
He is the one who will complete the work which he has begun in us (Philippians 1:6).
To live is all about him, and because of him, "to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21).
He is the one who is "in very nature God" (Philippians 2:6).
He "made himself nothing", and "humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross!" (Philippians 2:7-8)
There is "surpassing worth" in knowing him (Philippians 3:8).
Through faith in him, we can receive "the righteousness that comes from God" (Philippians 3:9).
He defeated death (Philippians 3:10-11).
Because of him, we can "win the prize for which God has called us heavenward" (Philippians 3:14).
He reigns in heaven (Philippians 3:20), and everything is under his control (Philippians 3:21).
He will "transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body" (Philippians 3:21).
Which of these realities do you most struggle to believe?
As we have come to the end of the reading plan,
1. Take a moment to tune in to these wonderful truths about Jesus and let them cause you to rejoice.
2. If you are struggling to hear the gospel soundtrack right now, share with a friend or in your journal moments in your life where God has shown his power and presence in your life.
3. We encourage you to find safe and healthy ways to begin engaging in Christian community. We can hear the gospel music in our own life when we see how it’s playing out in someone else’s.

About this Plan
A 14-day reading plan through Paul’s letter to the Philippians. It’s easy to make a list of the things Christians do, but that doesn’t really tell us much about what the experience of following Jesus is actually like. Ideal for believers at any stage of the Christian life. A resource from Christianity Explored Ministries.
