Catechism: For Real?Sample
Yesterday, we read in Ephesians 1:4-7 that God chose us to be in his spiritual family, and the benefits of being in his spiritual family far outweigh anything we could ever imagine!
Having a place in the family of God means that not only can nothing separate us from his love, but that we can have the assurance of being with him in this life and the next. God is our faithful Father, and his plans for our life exceed our expectations and our past circumstances.
Jesus tells the disciples about a hopeful future: he is preparing a place for them in his Father’s house, and he does the same for us. How wonderful it is to know that God has a special place in his family for all his children!
Living as God’s child means we get to experience his constant love and faithfulness, even when we are faithless.
Sometimes we feel like we are all alone and isolated, but the Bible promises us that God will never leave us or forsake us and that he has a plan for our lives.
No matter what struggles we experience in our lives, we can take comfort in his presence here and look forward to the day we see him face to face.
Read: Romans 8:31-39; John 14:1-4
Consider: Our earthly families can positively or negatively affect the way we view God as our heavenly Father and us as his children. Has this been a truth that you've struggled with? Read Romans 8:31-39 and consider memorizing it. On the days that seem dark, it can be a reminder of just how much God loves you.
Reflect: How does it make you feel knowing that Jesus is preparing a special place for you in God’s family and in heaven?
