Catechism: Masterpiece

DAY 3 OF 3

We often hear that God’s love is unconditional, but what does that really mean?

Our capacity for love has limits- if a friend betrays you, you probably aren’t going to want to be friends with that person anymore. If a romantic relationship goes south, your heart feels broken and you aren’t sure you could ever care for or love someone again.

But God’s love is different - we did betray him; we did reject him; we did lie and break his heart with our choices. And in spite of all this he still loves us.

God’s love has no limits. It is pure and holy. It is bigger and better than we can ever imagine. His love is so great that it doesn’t make sense! Our minds can’t comprehend a love like his but our hearts get to experience it.

And it is his love towards us that is the foundation of his desire for a relationship with us.

Read: John 3:16; Ephesians 3:14-19; Psalm 36:5

Reflect: In what ways do you see that God loves you and has chosen you as his own?

Pray: Father, I thank you that I am already loved and chosen. That I am your child through the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus. Help me to walk confidently in the knowledge that I am valued, wanted, and deeply loved. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Day 2

About this Plan

Catechism: Masterpiece

We are constantly bombarded with messages about our identity. While culture may say that identity is self-defined and discovered, the Bible shows that our identity and worth is rooted in our relationship to God. We are God's masterpiece - deeply valued, deeply loved and wanted. This 3-day Bible Plan is part 1 of 4 designed to go along with the Catechism 'Who Am I' small group series.
