What Is God's Kingdom Like?Sample

God’s Kingdom grows slowly but steadily
He put another parable before them, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.’ (Matthew 13:31-32)
Most human rulers present themselves in all their splendor. They want to impress their citizens and other nations. But God’s Kingdom comes almost unnoticed. Jesus compares it to a tiny seed that is sown in a field. But this seed starts to grow, little by little until it becomes a tree.
During Jesus’ earthly life, the number of people who really followed Him and believed in Him was small. Most people were disappointed that He was not a political leader who expelled Israel’s enemies. Only a few really committed themselves to Jesus’ teachings, but after His death and resurrection, several thousand people came to faith when the Holy Spirit was poured out. “The Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved,” Acts 2:47 records. Later chapters tell about missionary journeys to other countries, spreading God’s Word ever further. Nowadays, billions of people all over the world worship Jesus as their Lord!
Take a moment to reflect on the growth of God’s Kingdom. God keeps His promises!
