HELP!: A 10-Day Devotional by Brandon LakeSample
Anxiety can be all-consuming. But so can the fire of God. Sickness can cause devastation. But the Lord’s healing hand can lead to deliverance. We weren’t meant to carry fear but to be filled with faith. This song is one of declaration, freedom, and truth.
We may be hit with wave after wave of anxiety, sickness, heartbreak, and more. But “because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail” (Lamentations 3:22). The more we press into God, the more we will be filled with His presence, ultimately overflowing with His love—and fear will have no room. He will even go so far as to deliver us from those fears as we seek Him (Psalm 34:4). He doesn’t do anything halfway, so whatever work He begins in you, He will be faithful to complete (Philippians 1:6).
Our declarations are important in this process. Scripture shows us so many instances of the power of the tongue, starting with God literally creating the world with His words. What we speak out about and have faith in has influence. Declaring truth over ourselves and looking for its evidence can be life-changing.
“Fear is not my future, you are, you are. Sickness is not my story. You are, you are. Heartbreak is not my home, you are. Death is not the end, you are.”
Next time you are faced with what may feel like paralyzing fear or suffocating anxiety, remember that this is not your lot in life. This is not a load you “just have to bear.” Speak, or sing, these words to whatever it is that’s attacking you: “Goodbye fear, goodbye guilt, goodbye shame. Goodbye pain, goodbye grave, it’s a new horizon.” Then sing, “Hello peace, hello joy, hello love, hello strength, hello hope, it’s a new horizon.”
And watch that fear be washed away with faith.
About this Plan
Thanks for joining me on this 10-day devotional, which shares the freedom, truth, and intimacy found only in God. This plan is based on the songs from my recent album, HELP!, which I wrote out of a place of anxiety while desperately searching for freedom. I pray these words and songs draw you closer to God and that you, too, begin to see the light. Goodbye fear, hello hope.
