God's Glory

DAY 10 OF 13

Seeing God's glory

“Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see the glory that you have given me” (John 17:24).

Humans cannot see God's glory. Even Moses, who had a very special relationship with the Lord and had often spoken with Him, could not look at God. When He asked to see God's glory, this request was only partially granted. “You cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live”, God told him (Exodus 33:20).

But when Jesus had almost completed His work of salvation, He prayed to His Father. He wanted everyone who believed in Him to be with Him in heaven to see His glory there. By Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, our sin is washed away and thus the greatest barrier between us and God's glory is removed. When we are cleansed of our sin by Him, we can see God “face to face.” Then we will no longer die when we see Him, but will rather live forever. Then we will come into His presence filled with reverence and awe, but not fear. Then we may sing with the angels, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13)

Are you singing this song already?
