Moses: The Lessons I Can LearnSample
What miracles has God done for you?
I'd really like to revisit the topic of past miracles because looking back every day at God's faithfulness in our lives is so important!
I went for a walk today, and I love it when I feel the sun shining on my face. It would be amazing if the sun could shine on my face every time I walk, but that's impossible—because then, I'd always be walking in just one direction! For me to get back home from my morning walk, I have to turn around at some point, and then the sun is at my back and my face starts to get cold...
Thinking about this reminded me of the Israelites facing the Red Sea—the sun was neither at their backs nor on their faces. In fact, at their backs were Pharaoh's chariots, and before their faces was the sea! God then said to Moses, "'How long will these people not respect Me? How long will they refuse to believe in Me? They refuse even though I have done many signs [miracles] among them.'" (Numbers 14:11, NIRV) The Israelites were too distracted by the noise around them to hear God's voice—instead, they heard the loud waves of the sea and the roar of the Egyptian army.
Why was fear and doubt their immediate reaction? God's people had forgotten the great miracles He had done through Moses when He had brought them out of Egypt! Just a short time earlier, when they were mistreated people in Egypt, life seemed hopeless for them. But then God changed everything for them! His desire, both for them and for us, is this:
"Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles…" (Psalms 105:5, NIV)
You need to understand that when the sun is no longer shining on your face, those moments, too, are part of your journey and progress toward your goal. And though you may doubt, God wants you to keep running! He wants you to praise Him for what He's already done and for what He wants to do for you again! Even though your face may feel cold, look back and remember the warmth of the miracles God has already accomplished in your life.
The miracle you receive today will be a thing of the past tomorrow…unless you realize that your past miracles can happen again, at any time! Remember each and everyone as you press forward.
You are a miracle!

About this Plan
This week, let's explore Moses' life together. What drove him? What made him doubt? Trust? Where did he need to persevere because circumstances were against him? What does it take to experience miracles as Moses did? And, most importantly, what can we learn today from Moses visible trust in the invisible God?
