Heart of God by Zach Williams: A 5-Day DevotionalSample
“He's not sitting there shaking His head
writing you off, leaving you lost
He's not sitting there shaking His head
wishing He never went to that cross
He's not sitting there shaking His head
He went to that cross, He went to that cross”
God is so Holy that He simply cannot be in the presence of sin. When God dwelled in the tabernacle in the Holy of Holies, no one could enter into His presence without dropping dead. God provided a way for the people to have their sins forgiven by allowing the High Priest to enter into God's presence, only him, only once a year, and only if he was ceremoniously purified. The blood of a spotless animal cleansed the sin of the people of Israel until the following year, when the High Priest had to do it all again.
God is a just God. He pours out His wrath on sinners. God does not want us to perish, so He provides a way for us to have a relationship with Him. He sent His son Jesus to earth, who lived a sinless life. The only one who didn't owe anything was the one who paid the debt. Jesus, the lamb of God, shed His blood on the cross. Through our faith in Him and repenting from our sin, we become children of God! God loved us so much that He gave us the gift of eternal life through Jesus! He is our Savior. He stands at the door and knocks; let Him in! He doesn't want to leave you lost; He wants you to come to Him! Jesus, the better High Priest that serves in a better sanctuary with a better covenant!
Reflection:
Have you ever wondered what happens to you after you die? Is Heaven a real place? What about Hell? Would God really allow people to spend eternity in torment? Where will you go after you draw your last breath?
Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Those aren't my words; they are His. Put your faith in the Lamb of God who came to take away the world's sins. Get to know Him by reading the love letter He left for you, His Holy Bible.
