DAY 2 - Preparing For Purpose
God can use your past to prepare you for your purpose.
Just look at David. When he was anointed as King of Israel, it would still be many years before he assumed the throne. His brothers headed off to war to defend the very nation he was called to lead, but David continued watching over his father’s sheep.
He remained faithful where he was planted. When lions and bears threatened the flock, David struck them down and rescued any sheep that had been stolen.
When Goliath threatened Israel, David had confidence to face the giant in front of him because he had already seen God provide a way for him. There were people who doubted David, but he said to them, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Just like David, God used Tasmin’s past to help prepare her to step into her purpose.
Tasmin was interning with one of our Outreach partners, Roof Above, when she first learned about LOVE Week. She saw people serving together at an event and was inspired by their commitment to make a positive impact in their community.
A year later, Tasmin signed up to serve during LOVE Week 2021 and ended up rededicating her life to Christ and went public with her faith through baptism. She now serves regularly with Congregation for Kids, an organization that connects children and youth in foster care with mentors.
It’s a full-circle moment because Tasmin was also in foster care as a child and is now able to encourage other children facing a similar situation. God used her past experiences to make a lasting impact now. Imagine how He wants to use yours.
TAKE ACTION
Take a moment to reflect on the ways God has used past experiences to prepare you for how He is using you now. Share this with a friend or family member.
Ask Yourself: What is God trying to teach me right now? How can I use what I’ve learned to encourage others as they step into their purpose?
