Through the Bible: 1 Timothy

DAY 1 OF 3

We Were Sinners

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
1 Timothy 1:15-16

Paul was always aware of the role God's grace and mercy played in his conversion. Paul reminded Timothy and so reminds us that he was a blasphemer and a persecutor of believers. He was ignorant and didn’t really know what he was doing, calling himself the worst of sinners. He states ‘But God flooded him with incredible grace until he was full of faith and love for Jesus.’

When we read this, we start to have a thankful heart and a yearning to see our unsaved friends come to know the gospel message.

Prayer

Lord, we are challenged to intercede for our friends and neighbours and to look for opportunities to give them Your life-saving words of salvation. Pour out Your grace on them, Lord. Show us how to pray for them and give us divine encounters to share the gospel with them, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Day 2

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 1 Timothy

Apostle Paul recruited the puerile Timothy as his assistant during his second missionary journey. Fast forward a decade, Timothy had undertaken a bigger responsibility to pastor the Ephesian church. Hearing the reports of the older Christians’ questioning Timothy’s capability, Paul penned this letter to affirm Timothy, charging him to set an example of faith, and giving practical leadership advice. Paul’s words to Timothy will significantly resonate with anyone in ministry.
