The War on Wisdom Sample
There is a difference between discipline and punishment. Punishment goes along with retribution: giving someone what they deserve for the offence they have committed. Discipline, on the other hand, has correction at its heart. The act of discipline intends to bring the offending party to a place where they no longer commit the offence.
The father here implores the son not to reject the Lord’s discipline. If Jesus dealt with sin on the Cross, why do we still face the consequences of it on earth? When God allows us to face the consequences of our wrong actions, He does so with the intent of showing us that sin leads to death. It is His act of grace to get us off the wrong path.
Jesus took the full punishment for sin so that we wouldn’t have to, but the love of God allows us to be disciplined by the consequences of our sin now in order to save us from destruction.
Have you sinned and are you now facing the consequences of it? If we come in humility before God and agree with Him that our sin only leads to destruction, then make every effort to turn from it, the loving discipline of the Lord will work in us to produce the fruit of correction and righteousness.
About this Plan
We are at War, a war raging since the day that man decided to choose a way other than following the Counsel of God. But God in His grace gave us the strategy we need to be victorious - His Wisdom. The 'War on Wisdom' is a 5-week reading plan through parts of the book of Proverbs. Our purpose is to help the believer reclaim the Wisdom of God.
